This is the home of road racer Gary Jones, competing in the Minitwins and Thunderbikes championships with the British Motorcycle Racing Club (BMCRC).
He began racing in 2007, with a short season that was the result of an accident at Snetterton. He returned in 2008 and completed a full season, additionally competing in a few rounds of the Thunderbikes series. Now embarking on 2009's competitions Gary has selected a mixture of Thuderbike and Minitwin rounds to fit his work commitment. The Minitwins series is open to 650cc twin cylinder motorbikes, with restrictions placed on allowable modifications to keep costs to a minimum. As a consequence racing is tight and relies on the rider's skill to differentiate the competitors. Thunderbikes allow more modifications and a greater range of bikes and the different mix of bikes all excel in different places on the track. This makes the racing varied and the riders must work hard to capitalise on the strenghts of their bike. A standard SV650 race bike is resonably competitive, allowing a single machine to be used in both championships.
